Collection: Christo Javacheff (1935-2020)

Christo's spectacular and monumental art installations are known worldwide. Christo Vladimirov Javacheff was born in Bulgaria in 1935 and Jeanne-Claude was born in Morocco in 1935. The two artists met in Paris and began collaborating in the 1960s. Their works were often temporary and consisted of wrapping large buildings, bridges or landscapes with fabrics or other materials. Through their installations, they aimed to change the perception of space and environment, encouraging viewers to look at their surroundings in new ways. Christo and Jeanne-Claude worked together for years to plan and implement their projects, which often presented immense logistical challenges. Sadly, Jeanne-Claude passed away in 2009, but Christo continued their shared vision until he passed away in 2020. However, their artistic legacy endures and their works continue to be admired and discussed.
