Otto Piene (1928-2014)

Otto Piene was a major German artist known for his contributions to kinetic art and op art. Born in Germany in 1928, Piene has used a variety of media and techniques throughout his career to express his artistic vision. Piene co-founded the artist group ZERO, which played an important role in the European art scene in the 1950s and 1960s. He experimented with light, fire, and air to create immersive and dynamic works of art. He is particularly well known for his Sky Art projects, in which he used balloons and fireworks to create spectacular installations in the sky. These works combined art with nature, creating unique experiences for viewers. Piene has also created paintings, sculptures, and installations, often featuring a playful and experimental aesthetic.
